The Congress of the National Confederation of Workers’ Councils has unanimously re-elected Imre Palkovics to be the president of the organisation during its VIIth Congress in Balatonalmádi on 25-26th May. In his speech Imre Palkovics quoted Pope John Paul II.: „Technology transforms work. But the subject of work continues to be man.” He added: „The job of the Confederation is to protect the working man.”

With one consent the Congress has re-elected Gábor Holecz vice-president for public service employees and Lajos Baumgartner vice-president for finances in their positions, the post of legal vice-president has been kept by Judit Dr. Czuglerné Dr. Ivány. During the event it has been stated that for the period 2018-2023 the re-elected presidency considers the general wage increase and reinforcement of social dialogue to be its primary purpose. 

Imre Palkovics stressed: the National Confederation of Workers’ Councils continues its work with regards to the christian-democratic values, besides he considers the cooperation among trade unions to be important.
